After winning his first game in charge as the coach of the Sunshine Stars, Austin Eguavoen disclosed to the journalists on Sunday at the Akure Township Stadium in a bid to escape relegation and have better performance, the Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure have signed 10 new players to fortify the team.
In the rescheduled Week 14 Professional Football League match, Sunshine defeated Rangers by 2-0. Otegbeye scored from the spot in the 58th minute before Adeniyi put the game beyond the defending champion by scoring from the close range in the 77th minute of play.
Egunavoen expressed optimism that the team would come out of the relegation zone and had better performance in their subsequent matches.
He said, “We are bringing in 10 new players, five of them have completed their signing process while the remaining five are still pending but I’m sure very soon they will too will be through.
While expressing satisfaction about the performance of the team in the Sunday’s match, the former Super Eagles defender, appealed to the Sunshine fans to always be patient with the team while the going was still ongoing.
With this victory, the Owena Boys are now 14 on the log with 24 points.
He promised to work on the areas in the team that needed to be worked on.
“We are working hard to ensure coming out strong in the second round and if we keep winning we can still win the league. ” the coach assured.
