Fidelis Ilechukwu has described the invitation of Sikiru Olatubosun and Stephen as an opportunity for other players in the squad to raise their game and perform very well in the absence of the duo.
While speaking with Awijare News correspondent after their training this morning, the Working One as he’s popularly called by his fans expressed his joy with invitation of both players, “the invitation of Stephen and Sikiru is a great one for me as a coach and MFM as a club, I’m very happy about it.”
In response to how the call up will affect the club, “the sabi” coach answered, “their absence in our games won’t be good for me as a coach because of their collective contributions to the team this season. However, where they’re going is more important because National team call up is a huge privilege.”
“I cannot complain because we are not the only team affected by the call up. So many important players from other teams are also invited and will also miss some games for their clubs.”
“It is the time for other players who have not been playing regularly to raise their game and seize the opportunity the moment will offer them.”
“Sikiru and Stephen also benefited from the absence of some players in the past. Who knows, the players that will replace them may even be better than them.”
While responding to the possibility of winning the league this season, Fidelis said the title is still open to all the teams between 1st and 11th position on the log. He said his team, MFM will play the remaining games of the season one after the other starting from securing the maximum 3 points against Wikki Tourists tomorrow.
It will be recalled that both Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatubosun are among the 28 NPFL Stars invited for the CHAN camp that has been scheduled to begin on Monday.
