Nigeria’s representative in the 2018 CAF Champions League MFM FC will today set a record by becoming the first team ever to host a CAF Champions League game inside the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos. It is the return leg of their preliminary game against AS Real Bamako of Mali. The first leg ended in 1-1 draw at the Omnisports Modibo Keita stadium.
The team’s young coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has charged his boys to put the result of the first leg behind them and come out strong in today’s game. According to the “Working One” as he’s fondly called by his fans;
“The AS Bamako team is also a strong side and we have to respect them. The only thing is that we are going to adopt new tactics different from what we used in Mali.
“It won’t be the same type of approach; we will not sit back and defend. We need to attack them because they can have a goal too and that will be bad for the team,’’ he said. Ilechukwu urged the club’s fans to cheer the team because they were their backbone.
“Our game against AS Bamako is a crucial one and a decider, so we need all the support now to go further in the Champions League. “I am not promising anything but good football from my team and with God on our side we shall be the winning side,’’ he said.
Ex Agege FC Spartan Player, Akinyemi Nojeem scored the Olukoya Boys first ever Continental goal in the 15 minute of play but the lead was shortlived by Miakib Giscard‘s powerful header to bring Bamako back on level terms.
