It was lackluster performances in the first half that saw Gary Cahill opened the scoring with nodding from corner kick just after six minutes of play to get Gareth Southgate’s side off to a flying start.
After the goal, the host team took complete control of the game as both Dele Alli and Raheem Sterling made several attempts to increase the tally. It was however the team’s captain Harry Kane that netted a deserved second goal at the 39th minute of play.
Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi in the opening stages of the second half put a goal back for Nigeria after Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles gaffer made an half time substitution that saw Ebuehi, Omeruo, Etebo and Ogu replaced Sheu, Balogun Onazi and Joel Obi respectively.
