Gafar Bolowotan appoints DG Lagos State Sports Commission
A football club owner and philanthropist, Honourable Gafar Oluwatoyin Bolowotan has been appointed as the Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission.
In a statement signed by Mr. Hakeem Muri Okunola, the Head of Service reads, “His Excellency Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo – Olu, Governor of Lagos State has approved the Disengagement of Mr. Babatunde Bank Anthony as the Director General of the State Sports Commission, as well as approved the appointment of Mr. OLUWATOYIN GAFAR BOLOWOTAN as the New Director General of the State Sports Commission. The appointment is in line with the ongoing re organisation of the State Public Service for efficient service delivery. The appointment is
with immediate effect.
Bolowotan as he is popularly called is a football club owner. He contributed immensely to Lagos State having a Premier League club after several in the lower league as he gave up his slot in NNL to Olukoya Boys, which serves as a leverage for MFM fc to gain promotion to the elite league, barely two seasons later.
He was once a Board member of the Lagos State Football Association and he also organised various sporting competitions to keep the youths busy all year round.
