No Olympics for U-23 Eagles

Nigeria U23 side this night failed to move beyond the the group stage of the CAF U23 Nations Cup which serves as the qualifying tournament for the football event of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Nigerian Olympic Eagles played a goalless draw against South Africa in their last group game as Cote d’Ivoire defeated Zambia 1-0 to emerge as group leaders with 6 points.

Imama Amapakabo led team lost their first game to the group winner, Cote d’Ivoire by a loan goal, won their second game against Zambia by 3 goals to one and drew the last game against South Africa who qualified for the semi-final behind Cote d’Ivoire.

This is the third time a team coached by Imama will refused to qualify in the last one month. He recently failed in both WAFU Cup and CHAN qualifiers.
