Beach Soccer World Cup: Nigeria lost to Portugal
The Super sand Eagles of Nigeria last night lost to Portugal in their opening game of the 2019 Beach World Cup.
The most successful Nigerian Beach Soccer player, Abu Azeez struck home towards the end of the first period, to end the period in Advantage of Nigeria.
As soon as the 2nd period commenced, Portugal began to fire from all cylinder which led to their equalizer from a corner kick as Belchior cleverly beat Danjuma Paul at the far corner before current world player of the year, Jordan Santos increased the tally for the Portuguese in quick succession.
It was free fall for the Super Sand Eagles of Nigeria as they conceded 5 goals in thee 2nd period and another 5 in the 3rd period to suffer their worst defeat in the history of Beach Soccer World Cup.
Nigeria next game will be on Sunday, against Oman who suffered 8-2 defeat against Brazil.
Nigeria and Senegal are the two Africa representatives at the World Cup. Though Senegal lost their first game against Russia, it was a respectable scoreline of 7-8.
