NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF POLYTECHNIC STUDENTS HONOURS FOUNDER OF CALEB UNIVERSITY
The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) on Wednesday honoured Dr. Oladega Adebogun, Visitor and Founder of Caleb University as ‘Icon Of Humanity and Trailblazer’.
Presenting the award at Caleb University Conderence Room, Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, National President of Polytechnic Students in Nigeria explained that the “Icon of Humanity” is the highest honour that the student body can bestow on any individual.
“NAPS finds Dr. Adebogun the Founder of Caleb Group of Schools and Caleb University, worthy of the highest honour in our association, for his passionate professional capability; charismatic leadership acumen; ceaseless contribution to human development projects; unquestionable landmark achievement in socio-economic growth as well as sustained selfless service to humanity.
Prof. Owen’s Ibie, the University Vice Chancellor, who received the award at a modest event due to social distancing protocols, on behalf of the Founder, thanked the students for finding Dr. Adebogun worthy of such a huge honour.
The VC, a Professor of Mass Communication enjoined the students to always put God first in their strive for academic excellence. Also, the School Registrar, Mrs Folake Okor, urged the students to be steadfast and take enterprenuership seriously.
Other Executive Council members of NAPS present include Agunloye Rukayat, Director of Advocacy (The Polytechnic, Ibadan); Opeola Rasheed, Chief of Staff (Osun State Polytechnic, Ire); Ibirogba Mariam, Director of Gender (TASUED); Danladi Emmanuel, Director Of Media (Kaduna Polytechnic) and Sodiq Oyekunle, Director of Action & Mobilization (TASUED).
The choice of Adebogun for the award may not have come as a surprise, considering the long years in which the receipient has been active in philantropy, education and youth development.
The Imota Prince, who is the President of the Faith Bible Training Centre, FBTC, an Interdenominational Evangelical Training Centre, has over the decades commited huge sums of money on annual scholarships for the people of Imota and environs. His successful sojourn in education did not come by accident as he rose through the ladder for get to the summit. He holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning and the passion for education had been consumed, even before he became a classroom teacher.
Not long ago, he was appointed the a member of the International Youth Fellowship Advisory Committee by the Board of the International Youth Fellowship, IYF.
Also, the Initiative for Positive Influence on African Youth, IPIAY, conferred on him a pan-African Leadership Award as Icon of Social and Human Capital Development. He is globally acclaimed a worthy ambassador and inspiration to youths in Africa for immense contribution to nation-building, community development and effective service delivery to Nigeria in particular and the world at large.Caleb University Community had expressed appreciation to NAPS and congratulations to their Founder, Dr. Oladega Adebogun, a quintessential administrator, widely described a rare gem, administrative icon, an inspirational mentor and a man of uncommon grace.
