Ikorodu City’s Ayomide Cole Celebrates Dramatic Victory, Relishes Team’s Two Late Goals Against Plateau United

Ikorodu City of Lagos striker Ayomide Cole is still celebrating his team’s couple of very late goals that fetched them a dramatic 2-1 win against visiting Plateau United of Jos in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

Although many of their fans were already apprehensive of suffering defeat at home when the Tin City side went ahead in the 38th minute and held firm till late in the game, Cole insisted in an interview with Sports247 that he never doubted that his side would win.
Eventually, goals by Olatunji in the 74th minute and Oyelakin in the 80th gave The Oga Boys bragging rights, much to the delight of Cole, but he admitted afterwards that it was not an easy task for his Ikorodu-based side.

Cole confessed, “This game was the toughest one for us. They scored first, but we had the confidence that, no matter what, we would come back and get in charge of the game. That was our confidence. Even when time was running out, we still had the confidence that we would score and that we would win. That was our focus. Our total call was to recover and score more. We believed that we would get the maximum points, and I am happy that we were able to win.”

Cole admitted it was a close shave for his side but further pointed out that the favourable end to Wednesday’s highly tense and explosive match will boost his team’s confidence heading into their next game.
