Portable vs. Ogun State Government: The Controversy, Legal Battle, and Plea for Forgiveness
Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with the Ogun State Government. The controversy began when Portable allegedly assaulted officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) during an inspection at his establishment, Odogwu Bar, located in Iyana Ilogbo.
Following the incident, Portable’s aides were arrested and sentenced by a magistrate court in Ogun State. In response, Portable took to social media, expressing frustration and attributing his predicament to his father’s mismanagement of funds intended for property development.
Amid the escalating tensions, Portable publicly appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for leniency, acknowledging the government’s authority and seeking forgiveness.
The situation has also impacted Portable’s business, with reports indicating a decline in patronage at his bar as the dispute continues.
As of February 20, 2025, Portable has turned himself in to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings.
This case highlights the complex interplay between celebrity conduct and governmental authority, underscoring the potential legal ramifications of actions taken against state officials.
