Student’s Haircut Fury: 14-Year-Old Girl Arrested with Firearm for Alleged Plot Against Teacher

In a shocking incident underscoring the escalating violence among students, a 14-year-old girl from Ikot Ewa Secondary School has been arrested by Nigerian Army officers for allegedly attempting to murder her teacher. The teenager was found in possession of a modified double-barrel gun, which she reportedly intended to use in retaliation against her teacher for enforcing the school’s grooming policy that required her to cut her dyed hair.

According to reports, the student felt humiliated by the teacher’s insistence on adhering to the school’s natural hair policy. In response, she allegedly planned a violent attack but was apprehended before she could execute her plan.

This incident has raised significant concerns among educators and policymakers about the safety within schools, the rising trend of student-perpetrated violence, and the alarming accessibility of firearms to minors in Nigeria.
