Lagos Police Foil Kidnapping Plot, Rescues Victim, and Nabs Two Notorious Suspects

In line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to eradicate kidnapping and other violent crimes across Nigeria, the Lagos State Police Command has successfully dismantled a dangerous kidnapping syndicate. Two Pakistani nationals, Roman Gull (19) and Aftab Ahmad (28), were arrested after a daring rescue operation, which saw the liberation of a 48-year-old Pakistani victim in Ikeja, Lagos.

The police sprang into action on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, after receiving an urgent distress call reporting the abduction. The quick response from the Ikeja Division’s anti-crime patrol team led to the victim’s safe recovery and the arrest of the two captors, while five other accomplices managed to escape.

The criminals had lured the victim to Lagos with promises of a chef position. Upon arrival from Kano, the victim was held captive, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of 50 million Naira. The victim’s employer initially sent 1 million Naira to delay the threat, after which they alerted the police. Authorities were able to apprehend the kidnappers before they could carry out their deadly plans.

The police recovered a grey Toyota Camry used in their operations, along with the victim’s belongings, including two thousand dollars in cash, three ATM cards, and other personal identification documents. Efforts are now underway to capture the remaining members of the syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the swift actions of the Ikeja Division team, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all Lagos residents and visitors.

Residents can rest assured that the Lagos Police Command remains relentless in the fight against crime, with continued vigilance in safeguarding public safety.
