Week 9 of the NWFL Premiership League was nothing short of spectacular, filled with intense matches, brilliant goals, and unforgettable moments that showcased the incredible talent across Nigeria. Here’s a look back at the heart-pounding action from the weekend:

In the first match of the day, Robo Queens put on a goal-scoring clinic, dominating Benue Queens with an 8-1 victory. The match was practically decided early on, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opening the floodgates in the 7th minute, later adding another in the 74th. Opeyemi Ajakaiye played a starring role with a superb hat-trick, netting in the 22nd, 55th, and 82nd minutes. Not to be outdone, Mariam Yahaya also bagged a hat-trick, scoring in the 51st, 80th, and a final goal in the 90th minute. It was a heartbreaking defeat for Benue Queens, whose lone consolation goal came in the dying moments of the match, at the 89th minute. In their first encounter in Makurdi, Robo Queens had already claimed a 5-1 victory. It’s clear that Robo Queens are in unstoppable form.

Over at Legacy Pitch, Dannaz Ladies hosted Nasarawa Amazons, and the visitors came out on top, securing a solid 3-0 win. The goals came from Amina Bello (7th minute), Ayowumi Omosuyi (53rd minute), and Chisom Chima (81st minute), showing the depth and quality of Nasarawa Amazons.

Meanwhile, there was more drama unfolding across the country. In Uyo, Rivers Angels narrowly edged out Ibom Angels 1-0, thanks to a solitary strike from Mary Moses, proving once again how every point matters in this competitive league. Over in Asaba, Bayelsa Queens demonstrated their resilience as Chinwe Akabike scored a dramatic last-minute goal in the 90th minute to secure a 1-0 victory over Delta Queens, keeping them at the top of the Group B table with 23 points.

The defending champions, Edo Queens, continued their impressive run. After converting a penalty in the 35th minute, Goodness Osigwe opened the scoring. Then, Esther Moses doubled the lead in the 61st minute before Mary Lucky scored a late goal for Abia Angels in the 72nd minute, but it was too little too late as Edo Queens claimed a 2-1 win. This victory marks their second consecutive away win, keeping them tied for the top spot in Group A with 23 points.

Heartland of Owerri showed their strength at home, defeating Ekiti Queens 1-0. A single goal by Blessing Saleh in the 17th minute handed Heartland the victory, leaving Ekiti Queens reeling from their second consecutive loss.

At Ikenne, Remo Ladies fought hard against Confluence Queens, with Kafayat Bashiru delivering a brace (17th and 77th minutes) to seal a 2-0 victory. This win keeps Remo Ladies in second place in Group A, solidifying their place as serious contenders.

Finally, Naija Ratels kept their Super 6 qualification hopes alive with a crucial 2-0 victory over Adamawa Queens in Abuja. Grace Saliu was the hero of the day, scoring both goals in the 12th and 83rd minutes to give the home team the edge.
