The 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) served another weekend of thrilling football as fans witnessed 22 goals across ten matches. The week featured six home wins, one away win, and three draws, with plenty of surprises that reshaped the league table.

Wikki Tourists 1–1 Kwara United (Bauchi)

At the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Wikki Tourists and Kwara United shared the spoils in a hard-fought 1–1 draw.
Wikki’s Mairiga J. opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, but Kwara United equalized just before halftime through Gidado T. Despite late drama, including a missed penalty by Usman A. for the hosts, both teams settled for a point each, leaving them level on 9 points from 8 matches.

Warri Wolves 1–1 Niger Tornadoes (Warri)

Enewarikpemi A. and Temitope V. were on target as Plateau United climbed to 9 points, while Barau FC remain bottom with only 5 points from 8 matches.

Nasarawa United 2–1 Rangers International (Lafia)

Nasarawa United continued their impressive form with a 2–1 victory over Rangers International at the Lafia Township Stadium.
Rangers’ Wisdom Ebirim had given the visitors an early lead, but Anas Yusuf’s penalty and a second-half goal from John Joshua turned the game around for the league leaders, who now sit firmly on 19 points after eight games.

Kun Khalifa 1–0 Enyimba International

One of the shocks of the weekend came in Kaduna, where Kun Khalifa FC earned a stunning 1–0 win over Enyimba International.
Nwokorie E.’s 67th-minute strike handed the newly promoted side their second win of the season and offered hope in their relegation battle. Enyimba, meanwhile, slipped to third with 13 points, missing a chance to close the gap on the top.

Katsina United 3–1 Remo Stars (Katsina)

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United produced a dominant display to beat defending champions Remo Stars 3–1.
Akanni E., Collins U. (penalty), and Garba A. were on the scoresheet for Katsina, while Abubakar I. grabbed a consolation goal for Remo.
The champions’ struggles continue as they drop to 12th position with only 10 points from 7 games.

Kano Pillars 1–1 Shooting Stars (Kano)

A dramatic late equalizer ensured Shooting Stars earned a point in Kano.
Jibrin M. gave Kano Pillars the lead in the 8th minute, but Mustapha A. struck deep into stoppage time (90+4) to rescue a draw for the visitors.
The result, however, was marred by post-match crowd trouble, prompting condemnation from Shooting Stars and football stakeholders.

Ikorodu City 1–0 Bendel Insurance (Lagos)

Abia Warriors 2–0 Elkanemi Warriors (Umuahia)

Abia Warriors cruised to a comfortable 2–0 home win over Elkanemi Warriors, thanks to a first-half brace from Azubuike C., who struck in the 23rd and 28th minutes.
The result boosts Abia’s confidence as they look to push into the top half of the table.

Rivers United 1–2 Bayelsa United (Port Harcourt)

In the biggest upset of the weekend, Bayelsa United defeated Rivers United 2–1 in Port Harcourt.
The match, postponed to Monday morning due to heavy rain, saw Bayelsa take a 2–0 lead through Garba S. and Chinedu E. before Manyo S. scored a late consolation for Rivers United.
It was Bayelsa’s second away win of the season and Rivers United’s first home defeat.
