Grassroots giants Ikorodu City FA and ISGAT go head-to-head for the 1XCup 2025 title in what promises to be an electrifying finale at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the third edition of the 1XCup as Ikorodu City Football Academy and ISGAT FC clash tomorrow at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Waterfront, Lagos.

This year’s finale promises to be a festival of grassroots football — fierce tackles, high drama, and unforgettable goals. It’s a battle between two ambitious sides determined to etch their names in Lagos football history.

Road to the Final

Ikorodu City FA’s journey to the final was far from easy. The young Ikorodu side knocked out last year’s finalist, Community Gunners, in the quarterfinal before edging past Nath Boys in a nerve-racking semifinal decided by penalties.

ISGAT FC, on the other hand, showed their attacking strength throughout the tournament. They defeated Vinmo Energy 2–1 in the quarterfinal and went on to outclass Dosu Joseph Football Academy in the semifinal to seal their place in Thursday’s final.

Before the grand finale, fans will also enjoy a Third-Place Battle between Dosu Joseph FC and Nath Boys FC, scheduled for October 16, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the same venue.

Coaches Speak Ahead of the Final

Ahead of the much-anticipated final, ISGAT manager Abdulrazaq Abdulwasiu played down the pressure on his team while taking a subtle dig at Ikorodu City’s performances.

“Most of their games have gone down to penalties,” he noted. “For us, the key will be to remain calm, disciplined, and focused. The semifinal was tougher because we were taken out of our arena under controversial circumstances, but we came through stronger. The final is not pressure — it’s a reward.”

In response, Ikorodu City FA’s coach Washington Egor sounded confident and composed about his side’s readiness to clinch the title.

“Our mentality is high, and our resilience is unmatched,” Egor said. “We’re used to finals, and we want this one badly. I believe the cup will be ours.”

A Festival of Football for Lagosians

Speaking with Awijare Sports, 1XCup CEO Engineer Waidi Akanni extended an open invitation to football fans across Lagos.

“Lagosians should come out to watch the best of grassroots football,” Akanni said. “There will be raw talent, goals in abundance, and exciting side attractions. Expect music, dance, and plenty to eat and drink. We’ll also be giving away over 1,000 branded T-shirts.”

As anticipation builds, one thing is certain — the 1XCup 2025 final will crown a new champion for the third consecutive edition. After Bariga FC and Bethel FC lifted the previous titles, who will follow — Ikorodu City FA or ISGAT FC?

Football lovers will find out tomorrow inside the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
