The 2025 edition of the Soccer Queens Awards delivered a night of pride, celebration, and renewed purpose for women’s football in Nigeria. Held on Saturday at the Media Centre of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the ceremony brought together players, coaches, officials, and supporters from across the country for an event built on recognition and inspiration.
This year’s ceremony featured fourteen award categories carefully curated to honour the standout talents across all three tiers of the Nigeria Women Football League. From the Nationwide League to the Championship and the elite Premiership division, the awards highlighted the remarkable skill, consistency, and resilience of the women who define the league.

In his welcome remarks, organiser Moses Bako Nagogo reflected on the significance of the night and the mission behind the awards.
He emphasised that the ceremony was created to spotlight the women whose performances often unfold quietly, away from the heavy media spotlight that surrounds men’s football. He described them as athletes who light up the league with determination, creativity, and belief.
He noted that the initiative, now in its third year, has become a platform that celebrates excellence and drives the message that women’s football in Nigeria is flourishing. Premiership stars serve as role models for young girls, Championship players continue to challenge limits, and Nationwide talents prove that Nigeria’s football depth is rich and widespread.
