The 2025 Obasa Games Athletics Championships produced weeks of excitement, raw talent and dramatic sprint finishes as Lagos schools battled for supremacy across the track. While several schools shone in individual events, the biggest statement of the meet came from Iwerekun Community Senior High School, Lakowe, who emerged as the dominant relay team of the competition.

The Lakowe-based school powered to first place in both the 4 x 100 metres Under 18 Girls Final and the 4 x 100 metres Under 18 Mixed Relay Final, a feat that immediately set them apart as the overall standout performers of the athletics programme. Their performances were built on synchronised baton exchanges, race execution and disciplined teamwork, proving that collective strength can triumph over individual brilliance.

Although Iwerekun Community Senior High did not win any of the individual sprint titles, their relay achievements earned them two historic gold medals and solidified their status as the undisputed relay champions of Obasa Games 2025.

The Under 15 Girls sprint title went to Okonkwo Nnwoma of Surulere Girls Junior Secondary School, who delivered a confident and composed race, stopping the clock at 12.8 seconds. Her speed and clean drive phase put her clear of the field.
