PFAN Sets Grand Farewell for Legendary Goalkeeper Peter Rufai

Football icons, fans, and Lagos sports bodies unite to honour the late Super Eagles shot-stopper with a historic send-off at Onikan Stadium

The Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) has concluded arrangements to ensure the late legendary Nigerian goalkeeper Peter Rufai gets a befitting final journey, which begins 21st August, 2025.

According to the statement released by the General Secretary of PFAN, Comrade Edema Fuludu, PFAN has been working in conjunction with the Lagos State Football Association, the Lagos State Sports Commission and the Rufai family. 

The body will be lying in state at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos, by 10 am on Thursday, 21st August 2025, while a valedictory football match would be played in his honour by ex-Nigerian International footballers.

All football clubs and academies affiliated to the Lagos State Football Association would be dressed in their official club kits. Members of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, SWAN and football fans are also expected to turn out in large numbers at the Onikan Stadium to pay their last respects to the late iconic goalkeeper.
