Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has found himself at the centre of a growing public storm after his ex-wife, Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke, spoke out forcefully amid an ongoing eviction controversy linked to a Lagos property and their dissolved marriage.
The issue, which has dominated entertainment conversations on social media in recent days, initially surfaced when Iyan Aladuke accused unnamed parties of shutting down her business and forcefully evicting her and her family from the property she had been occupying. In response to the backlash, a family member of Femi Adebayo, Mrs Taiwo Abdulmalik, granted an interview defending the actor and offering what she described as the full context behind the eviction. According to Abdulmalik, the development had nothing to do with personal vendettas or deliberate action by the actor but was instead the outcome of a bank recovery and foreclosure process.
She explained that the Lagos property in question was purchased through a bank loan obtained by Femi Adebayo and that repayment challenges led the bank to commence foreclosure. Abdulmalik maintained that Iyan Aladuke was fully aware of the loan arrangement and had been informed months earlier that the bank intended to recover the property.

According to her account, once the bank moved to take over the property, Adebayo ensured that his estranged wife, her family members and staff were relocated to a short-let apartment, which he allegedly paid for in full. She further claimed that the actor encouraged Sanusi to secure another permanent residence and promised to cover the rent regardless of the cost.
The family member also disclosed that in 2022, Adebayo allegedly purchased a parcel of land beside Iyan Aladuke’s shop on Muritala Muhammed Way and registered it in her name as a backup investment. Abdulmalik said the actor was shocked when he later learnt that the land had been sold and the proceeds spent shortly after the foreclosure.

Addressing claims of neglect, Abdulmalik insisted that the actor has remained financially responsible for their son, providing monthly upkeep and staying involved in his life. She further alleged that Adebayo spent close to fifty thousand dollars last year to take his son to India for a medical procedure, noting that he does not publicize such actions because he considers them family responsibilities.
However, Iyan Aladuke has now responded publicly, rejecting what she described as false narratives being circulated about her situation. In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, she said she never intended to take the matter to the public but felt compelled to speak after being misrepresented.
According to her, the eviction was not a quiet bank recovery exercise as claimed but a traumatic event that involved the arrival of nearly twenty men at the Lagos property. She alleged that the men were armed and that the incident immediately drew public attention due to the manner in which it was carried out.
She further claimed that her aged mother, who frequently visits to help care for her child, was forcefully pushed out during the eviction by men carrying guns. Iyan Aladuke accused her ex-husband of being more concerned about managing public perception than the emotional and physical impact of the eviction on those involved.
In her words, she said she had endured a difficult period and had been falsely accused in the past but credited supportive individuals around her for helping her stay grounded. She added that recent events had exposed what she described as desperation and damage control efforts.
She also alleged that Femi Adebayo staged a visit to their son’s school after being absent for about a year, claiming the visit was photographed and later published to improve his public image. According to her, the visit occurred just days before the eviction, and she said she immediately sensed what was coming when she heard about the sudden appearance at the school.

Iyan Aladuke warned that she would no longer remain silent or allow her reputation to be targeted, stating that she had only chosen restraint in the past for the sake of their child. She called on any media outlet that published what she described as false narratives to retract them and cautioned against pushing her further.
Despite the mounting allegations and counterclaims, Femi Adebayo has not issued any official statement addressing his ex-wife’s accusations. When contacted separately, Iyan Aladuke declined to grant a formal interview, describing the issue as deeply personal.
She acknowledged that the matter had unfolded in the public space, which explained her decision to speak out online, but maintained that she did not intend to engage further in media exchanges.
